Rechargeable candles vs. disposable candles: why choose the sustainable option?

Every year, millions of candles are purchased, used, and then thrown away—jar and all. At Coton Corail, we wanted to rethink this model. Here is why choosing a refillable candle really makes a difference.

The problem with the disposable candle

A classic candle is a glass, concrete, or ceramic jar that you use for a few weeks, and then throw away. Glass is not always recyclable when it is soiled with wax. The container often ends up in the trash.

Multiply that by the dozens of candles we buy over the years, and the impact starts to add up.

The refillable candle: an object that lasts

The principle is simple: you keep the jar, you only replace the wax. At Coton Corail, our jars are designed to be refilled indefinitely. The refill costs less than the complete candle, and there is no container waste.

It is both more economical and more ecological.

In summary

The refillable candle is not a compromise. It is simply a better version of the candle—for you, and for the planet.
