Avoiding Black Candle Smoke
At our Coton Corail workshop in Montreal, several tests have allowed us to identify the essential steps for achieving a clean burn.
Best Practices
Trim the wick (5 mm)
A wick that is too long is the primary cause of smoke.
First full burn
Allow the entire surface to melt to stabilize the burn.
Avoid drafts
A stable flame is essential.
Burn time
Ideally 2 to 4 hours. Burning for too long can cause black smoke. It is important to extinguish your candle and relight it a little later after trimming the wick.
Importance of Candle Choice
The quality of the materials directly influences the burn.
At Coton Corail, each candle is tested to ensure a clean and consistent burn.
